History

  • Home

The productive history of the Fridevi slaughterhouse began in October 1983 when the cooperative entities Asociación de Cooperativas Argentinas (A.C.A.), the Hogar Obrero and the Cooperatives of Patagones and Stroeder, after acquiring the shareholding package of FRIDEVI, completed the necessary investments of a project delayed for many years and started the slaughtering of cattle and sheep in a small slaughtering plant.

  • Crisis - Changes

At the end of 1990, the company began to go through an important crisis due to the collapse of El Hogar Obrero - After a complex decision and the support of the shareholders, in 1993 the company began a deep process of internal restructuring and the design of a new marketing strategy and commercial vision. Afterwards, and as a result of its successful positioning in the region, different changes were made all along which resulted in a constant growth – Gradually, the first deboning room and sausage room were inaugurated in 1996 and new cold storage chambers were built.

  • Investments-Growth

With the company already consolidated and with a vast distribution network of meat and other products in the region, between 2003 and 2007 the slaughter plant, offal sector, cold storage rooms and a modern sausage room were completely remodeled in the adjoining property. In addition, the new deboning room and cold storage rooms for refrigerated and frozen products were built.

  • Structuring

After 1993, the company began a deep process of re-structuring and commercial vision. Gradually the first deboning room and sausage room were inaugurated in 1996 and new cold storage rooms were built.

  • Export

Although in 2005 the company started exporting to third countries, in September 2007, the company was authorized to export to the European Union and other similarly demanding destinations and obtained a Hilton Quota. Thus, an interesting project to make the plant more efficient and improve the company's positioning in an interesting consumption-export mix was completed.

  • Barriers

In February 2013, the Rio Colorado barrier was totally closed to the entry of live cattle and bone-in beef from the north of the river, which caused a huge shock to the company and imposed new rules of the game in the purchase of cattle and marketing of meat. Although the company already had its own feedlot since 2012, in view of the new situation, it was decided to expand it to a capacity of 5,000 animals.

  • Redesign

FRIDEVI, faced with the new sanitary reality and the barriers, decided to reconvert its strategy looking much more to the consumption in Patagonia. Thus, the idea of new distribution centers was born, building, and inaugurating the first one, in October 2015, in the city of Allen.

  • Strategies

Within the same strategy and seeking to diversify and become a leading supplier of meat products in Patagonia, the company builds a new and modern pork processing plant, adjacent to the sausage plant. After a couple of years, a very important alliance is made with the pig farm belonging to FIFI srl, located in Villa Regina, and from that moment until now this interesting experience of production-industry interrelation has not stopped growing and improving its quality notoriously.

  • New Milestones and Investments

In 2018, and as a new company´s milestone, Fridevi becomes the first slaughterhouse in the history of Argentina to export beef to JAPAN.- In 2019, it obtains the authorization to export to CHINA and thus be able to complete a better exporting commercial matrix.-
Also, at the end of 2019, export of beef with bone to Europe takes place for the first time.-
Based on the commercial changes implemented throughout Patagonia, the company decides to expand its Feed lot in 2020 to provide it with a capacity of 7,000 animals.
